Gee whiz
In honour of the extraordinary Auckland author Maurice Gee, who passed away in June, the Ockham Collective's Bridget van der Zijpp has arranged a special tribute as part of her popular Writers Write: Actors Read series. On Thursday 7 August at the Nix, the wonderful Jennifer Te Atamira Ward-Lealand will be reading Gee's short story Schooldays. The second reading of the evening will be Maria Samuela's Commonwealth Prize–shortlisted Bluey, performed by Mele Toli. Tickets are just $12 from eventfinda.
As part of her Ockham Collective year, Bridget has also started a Tuesday morning writing group at the Nix. If you're a writer with work on the go, check out the Writers Anonymous flyer at the bottom of this newsletter.
