Stage Fright Night
Hands up if you've ever felt extremely nervous before a performance? OK, so that's everybody then.
If you want to learn more about the causes of performance anxiety and some practical techniques to relieve the symptoms, the Let's Talk About Stage Fright workshop at the Nix is for you. The class is suitable for anyone who stands on a stage – singers, instrumentalists, actors, dancers, public speakers, etc.
It's being offered by the NZ Voice Programme, a collaboration between the Ockham Collective's Catrin Johnsson and her wife Rachel Fuller, both of whom are accomplished musicians and educators. Rachel is taking the lead on this one, which kicks off at 6.30pm on the evening of Monday 29 July (entry by Koha).
If you're a singer, you may also be interested in the Vocal Masterclass at the Nix on the previous afternoon (Sunday 28 July, 1pm; $80). Numbers are limited, so email Rachel to reserve your spot (singing participants $80, observers $20).
