A Matías Marathon

A Matías Marathon

We're not sure how he's doing it, but Ockham Collective's improv maestro Matías Avaca is involved in four different performance projects this month.

First up, on Thursday 3 October, is his regular Spanish-language open-mic comedy night, Comedia en Español, at Red Bar on Pitt St.

Then, two nights later, he'll be performing at nearby Pitt Street Theatre with The Avatars, a group born from his recent improv workshop series held at the Nix.

The following week he's heading to Wellington for the NZ Improv Festival, where he's hosting a workshop on the intriguing-sounding theme 'An offer you can refuse' at Hannah Playhouse on Friday 11 October.

Somehow he has also managed to find time to produce and direct the Auckland Improv Marathon at the Factory Theatre in Onehunga over the weekend of Friday 18 and Saturday 19 October. Not only that, as part of the marathon he'll be performing in La Catrina, an improvised theatre piece he co-directed with OC alumni Daniel Fernandez that had a successful run at both Basement and Bats last year.
