Auckland Folk

The Auckland Folk Festival is returning to the Kumeū Showgrounds over Auckland Anniversary weekend (23-26 January) and, as usual, Ockham Collective people are well represented on the line up. These include Hinekoia Tomlinson, Hot Diggity (Louise Evans' all-female bluegrass band) and Marine Simonson Wiskari (Hanna Wiskari's Scandinavian folk trio). Mel Parsons is also playing, but the performance we're most excited about is the New Zealand debut by Pettygrass, a Kiwi-US trio who play nothing but Tom Petty covers in a bluegrass style. And the OC connection? That's Benjamin Preston on mandolin and backing vocals.
