November calendar
Last month's fundraiser was just a prelude to the main event, a completely new show of riotous musical sketch-comedy from the team that brought you the runaway 2024 hit, H.R. The Musical. Written and composed by Amy Mansfield, H.R. The Musical #2 opens at Q Theatre on Tuesday 25 November and runs for two weeks.
On Saturday 8 November, James Littlewood and collaborators Ross Cunningham and John Pain are releasing an album, words + noise, under the name Mono Watt.
In their own words: "James uttered, spoke and sang various words about love, murder, pākehā identity and stuff. Ross accompanied him on electric guitar, at times highly processed, at times clean and hard. John added electronic audio... and brought studio guidance and ambience".
In true indie spirit, it's a self-released, limited-edition vinyl album of just 100 numbered copies. They're launching it with a gig at Flying Out Basement on Saturday 8 November where they'll be playing every track, live and free, and the album will be available to purchase.
Franco-American-Kiwi duo Sonia & Nigel are continuing to tour their show When I See Paris Again around the country. Details are on their website.
And, finally, Louise Evans is hosting a Folk Networking Event at the Nix for Friday 14 November for anyone who runs folk events in the city. You can read more about it on Facebook.
