His face is still being splashed across big screens nationwide in the Kiwi hit Tinā, but Jamie Irvine is not just an on-camera talent. He's also a respected acting coach who has taught at the likes of NIDA, Actors Centre Australia and the Theatre of Arts Hollywood.

As part of his OC year, Jamie is bringing a series of six-week Actors Scene Study courses to the Nix. There are still a couple of spots left for the upcoming sessions. Email [email protected] for more information.

The other regular craft-enhancing programme we host for actors and directors is Sandbox Sessions, which Marion Prebble started when she was on the OC in 2023. The next instalment of this fun and collaborative workshop is scheduled for the evening of Sunday 18 May.

We're also excited to announce a new series of events coming to the Nix in June that are open to everybody. Writers Write/Actors Read is the brainchild of the OC's resident author Bridget van der Zijpp. Scheduled for the first Thursday of each month, it's an evening when well-known actors will take to our little Nix stage to read from recently published, homegrown, short stories. Jamie is lined up for the first performance, which is scheduled for Thursday 6 June. Watch this space!
