Harping on
The celestial sounds of the harp have been an essential element to the soundtrack of this year's Ockham Collective, accompanying our launch, the pre-drinks at the Ockham NZ Book Awards and, of course, the aforementioned Songs of a Poem evening (check out Harpistina's collaboration with poet Tayi Tibble here).
If you're inspired to learn, Harpistina (aka Ina Yoon) is offering a series of one-hour taster sessions around Tāmaki Makaurau this month, starting in Remuera on Wednesday 19 October, then East Tāmaki on Friday 21 October and finishing up at the Ockham Collective's Modal space in Mt Albert on Tuesday 25 October. Musical knowledge isn't required, and harps are provided. The sessions cost $50 and can be booked through the Harpitree website.
If you'd rather listen than learn, Harpistina's students are giving a free lunchtime concert at Botany Library on Tuesday 11 October.
