Stuff yourself full of OC-related events this October.
On Wednesday 8 October, Auckland Bluegrass Club will be hosting a performance by Tom Cunliffe with Dave Khan. Tickets are only $10 on the door.
Pop-Up Folk Club is returning to the Nix on Saturday 18 October, with performances by Moon Goose, Miriam McCombe and Harmony Couch. We don't know much more about this one, except that it kicks off at 5pm and it's always a lot of fun (adults $20, 12 and under free).
Franco-American-Kiwi duo Sonia & Nigel are taking to the road in October and November with a show entitled When I See Paris Again. You can read all about it on their website. They'll be performing at Rafters on Ponsonby Rd on Friday 17 October before heading south.
Also in October, our good friends at Objectspace are hosting three Ockham Lectures as part of their Māori design—focussed Pohewa Pāhewa season. On Thursday 2 October, Anzac Tasker will be talking about 'design guardianship'. That's followed on Tuesday 7 October with 'Timber, Fibre, Whenua: Weaving Whakapapa into the Built Environment', delivered by Whare Timu. Finally, this year's winner of the Illustrated Non-Fiction award at the Ockham NZ Book Awards, Ngarino Ellis, will be discussing 'the complex roles of adornment in te ao Māori' on Wednesday 29 October. The lectures are free, but you'll need to register online to secure your place.
