The Ockham Collective is a registered charitable trust in Auckland, New Zealand. Its kaupapa is to support lifelong creativity and education. Our support is direct: we offer beautiful, purpose-built spaces to like-minded individuals and groups who want to share their knowledge and ideas with our city.
As 2020 draws to a close, we want to take this opportunity to celebrate the six fabulous musicians who took up the annual Ockham Collective residency this year.
Despite the challenges the year presented, the Ockham Collective made several strides forward in 2020.
The day after entrancing her Auckland audience at the final night of her much-delayed world tour, US punk-cabaret-singer-songwriter Amanda Palmer took part in much humbler but no less appreciated gig.
A great way we can support our Residents is to spread the word about what they’re up to, whether that’s at our creative precincts or in other venues across the country. Additionally, we host an ever-increasing roster of interesting events unrelated to our Residency programme which are open to the general public. Check out our events calendar »
Benjamin Preston and Mark Todd formed the Ockham Foundation in 2009 at the same time they founded Ockham Residential and started developing apartments in Auckland. They’ve been friends since university and are fiercely committed to lifelong learning, questioning and critical thought. Check out our story »
Our inaugural Residents are all musicians – and fine ones at that. They make their living teaching others and performing themselves. Each of our Residents have contributed significantly to Aotearoa’s music scene and we’re honoured to have them with us. If you want to book a lesson, there’s a link from each of the residents’ pages. We realised early on how hard it is to find good spaces to educate and create in central Auckland. The main thing Ockham is known for is the creation of beautiful spaces. One of the most meaningful and enduring ways we can give back to the community is to make space available to the individuals and groups that enrich our city. See our precincts »
