A star is born
Our stars aligned in August when Hiwa, a new collection of Māori short stories edited by the Ockham Collective's Paula Morris (pictured), was launched in the Ockham Gallery at Objectspace. It's named after Hiwa-i-te-rangi, the star in the Matariki cluster associated with dreams and aspirations.
Alongside stories by local literary luminaries like Patricia Grace, Witi Ihimaera, Whiti Hereaka, Becky Manawatu, and Paula herself (all of whom are Ockham NZ Book Award winners), Hiwa features a host of up-and-coming writers, including several writing in te reo Māori. Look for it at a quality bookstore near you.
