Ockham NZ Book Awards

May is the month when Auckland's bibliophiles get to indulge their passion in public at the Ockham-sponsored New Zealand Book Awards. It's one of the partnerships of which we're most proud, and this year the association has gotten even closer, with Paula Morris on the OC.

Rubber Chook Diplomacy

For 10 years the irrepressible Anita Arlov has been running Inside Out Open Mic For Writers nights, and the Ockham Collective has been pleased to host them for the last two years. The next session kicks off at 6pm on Wednesday 11 May.

Partners in Crit

The first exhibition to evolve from the Moana-Nui-a-Kiwa Cross-Crits group opened last week at ODDLY gallery and runs until 16 April. Ashleigh Taupaki and the OC’s Jasmine Tuiā curated the group show, which features the work of nine local artists.

The power of the Dave

We're never beyond bragging about the achievements of our OC alumni and this month there's a lot to brag about. David Ward's fingers star in The Power of the Dog, Jessie Booth has a new single out with band Ekko Park, and Kingsley Spargo is playing Kumeu Live.

Meet our 2022 crew

We're incredibly pleased to introduce you to the very talented people who will be joining the Collective this year. Amongst their storied ranks are an author who has won Aotearoa's top fiction prize and a singer with three consecutive number-one singles under her belt.

Our 2021 successes

This might be a controversial thing to say, given the last five months, but 2021 wasn't all bad. Despite - and in some cases because of - the disruptions from August onwards, our OC21 creatives achieved some amazing things. Here are some that we're most proud of.
