Entries are now open for the Day One Challenge, an opportunity for youth with a flair for moviemaking and storytelling to share a short film and potentially win some cool prizes.

For this month’s get together at Nix, the Auckland Bluegrass Club presents a concert night featuring singer and multi-instrumentalist Michael Young. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

The Ockham New Zealand Book Awards once again delivered a glittering evening of words and wonder at the Aotea Centre last month. The big winner was Emily Perkins, whose novel Lionness took out the fiction prize.

Our own award-winning playwright, Sam Brooks, has a three-night retrospective of readings of his works coming up at Basement Theatre this month - including the winner of the 2024 Adam NZ Play Award, This is My Story of Us.

He M A U R I, an exhibition of cyanotypes and paintings by Rangihīroa Panoho, is being launched on Friday 5 April at our Modal space in Mt Albert and continues until Wednesday 24 April.

Although we may have seemed a bit quiet of late, plenty has been happening behind the scenes. We're currently preparing for the official launch of our OC year later this month.

This year at the Ockham Collective we've decided to designate Wednesday nights at The Nix as music nights. Think of it as a little musical bump to get you over the hump.

Our stars aligned in August when Hiwa, a new collection of Māori short stories edited by the Ockham Collective's Paula Morris, was launched in the Ockham Gallery at Objectspace.

Hanna Wiskari is brining another Transglobal Music Session to The Nix on Sunday 17 September. She’s then popping up again as one of the guest artists at Louise Evan's Pop-Up Folk Club on Saturday 23 September.

On Saturday 16 September Going West, helmed by OC creative James Littlewood, will be launching the second in their series of collaborations between poets and filmmakers at the Lopdell Precinct in Titirangi.
